Beyond the Classroom

Beyond the Classroom will be of special interest to members who are five to 10 years from retirement.

This three-hour workshop details: how to calculate your final average salary, payment options for receiving STRS Ohio retirement benefits, how and when to purchase service credit and health care issues and funding.

Attendees will receive a take-home workbook that includes a retirement planning case study and worksheets to assist with determining: estimated expenditures; value of current savings in retirement; and the amount of savings yet needed to reach retirement financial goals.

Registration
This workshop is offered at locations throughout Ohio and advance registration is required. You may register beginning one month before the date of the workshop. After registering you will receive a confirmation letter with further details. There are two ways to register:

• Use the online registration application; or 

• Call STRS Ohio toll-free at 1-888-227-7877. 

This program can also be sponsored by employers or teacher associations. Your in-service coordinator can schedule this program by contacting STRS Ohio toll-free at 1-888-227-7877 and asking for the Member Education Department.
