Beyond the Classroom

Beyond the Classroom is a three-hour workshop that details: how to calculate your final average salary, payment options for receiving STRS Ohio retirement benefits, how and when to purchase service credit and health care issues and funding.

Attendees will receive a take-home workbook that includes a retirement planning case study and worksheets to assist with determining: estimated expenditures (currently and after retirement); value of current savings in retirement; and the amount of savings yet needed to reach retirement financial goals.

Who Should Attend
Beyond the Classroom will be of special interest to members who are five to 10 years from retirement and want to know more about STRS Ohio retirement options. We recommend this course especially for members who are considering how to “finance” their retirement.

This workshop is offered at locations throughout Ohio and advance registration is required. You may register beginning one month before the date of the workshop. After registering you will receive a confirmation letter with further details. There are two ways to register:

This workshop can also be scheduled as an in-service program. To schedule this workshop as an in-service, contact STRS Ohio toll-free at 1-888-227-7877 and ask for the Member Education Department.
