STRS Ohio is currently in its health care open-enrollment period, which runs through Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. During this time, benefit recipients and eligible family members can select a different plan for 2010 or join a plan if not currently enrolled. Current health care program enrollees received open-enrollment materials in the mail the last week of October. Benefit recipients interested in joining a plan should call STRS Ohio toll-free at 1-888-227-7877 for personalized enrollment information.

$400 Million Settlement in Marsh & McLennan Case (posted Nov. 16, 2009)
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray today announced a $400 million settlement in the class action securities lawsuit against Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., Marsh Inc., and former company executives Jeffrey Greenberg and Roger Egan (collectively “Marsh”). The settlement agreement negotiated by Attorney General Cordray and the New Jersey Attorney General on behalf of the lead plaintiffs holds Marsh accountable for its wrongdoing and requires Marsh to compensate investors for their injuries. Attorney General Cordray Announces Amended Complaint in Bank of America Case (posted Oct. 5, 2009)
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray announced that the Lead Plaintiff group in a securities class action lawsuit against Bank of America has filed a consolidated amended complaint. The complaint alleges that statements made in 2008 by Defendants regarding the Bank of America merger with Merrill Lynch failed to disclose billions of dollars in known losses at Merrill Lynch and Bank of America and billions more in accelerated agreed-upon bonuses to be paid to Merrill Lynch executives and employees.
