New Hire Notification As teachers become members of STRS Ohio, they will be sent information about the various retirement plan options. To ensure that members get timely information about their choices and have sufficient time to make an informed choice, employers must notify STRS Ohio of newly hired teachers, including reemployed retirees, within 10 days of the teacher’s first date on payroll. Membership Please note, employers are required by federal law to have all new employees complete and sign the SSA-1945 form. Once completed and signed by the employee, these forms should be submitted to the retirement system by fax or mail.
