Disability Benefit Program

Duration of Payments

Disability Allowance Program: Provided the member remains medically disabled from duty, payments terminate at age 65 if the benefit began before age 60. The table below shows how long benefits may continue for members who were age 60 or older when disability benefits began. Upon expiration of the disability payment period, service retirement benefits may be paid according to a special service retirement calculation. The member should contact STRS Ohio for more information about service retirement following disability.
