Alternative Retirement Plan Contributions
Effective Aug. 1, 2005, reemployed retirees employed full time by a public college or university, in an academic and/or administrative position, are able to choose an alternative retirement plan.
Employers are required to report employees electing an alternative retirement plan and contribute a percentage of the electing employee’s compensation to STRS Ohio for each employee electing an alternative retirement plan. These payments go toward meeting the employer’s proportionate share of STRS Ohio’s unfunded accrued liability.
