Member Requirements for Purchasing Service Credit Via Payroll Deduction
STRS Ohio will send the member a statement showing the cost per year and total cost to buy service credit. The member will also receive an Application to Purchase Service Through Payroll Deduction form for initiating payroll deductions.

This form shows the minimum monthly payment to purchase service credit for five different yearly intervals up to the maximum number of years allowed. The member must select a monthly payment equal to or more than the minimum allowable payment and submit the form to the employer.

In an after-tax plan, if the member needs to change or stop payroll deductions, written notice must be given to the employer.
