One-on-One Counseling

It is advisable to schedule an individual counseling session at least three years before you plan to retire and again six to 12 months from retirement. This session can take place at our office in Columbus, at a field location near your home or school, or by phone through an individual TeleConference.

The STRS Ohio TeleConference
The TeleConference is a convenient way for members to obtain an accurate benefit estimate and information about retirement benefits. Through a TeleConference, you can talk by phone with an STRS Ohio benefits counselor at no cost. TeleConference appointments are available between the hours of 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Monday–Thursday during the school year, and 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Thursday during July and August. To schedule a TeleConference, call toll-free 1-888-227-7877.

Conference at the STRS Ohio Building
You may meet with a benefits counselor at the STRS Ohio Building in Columbus between the hours of 8 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday–Thursday and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday during the school year, and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday–Friday during July and August. Conference Near a Member’s Home or School

There are two ways to schedule your appointment:

Please note that online registration is available one day prior to phone registration, and that sessions at most locations are scheduled every 40 minutes between noon–8 p.m.
