Caremark Merger Will Not Affect Enrollees’ Prescription Drug Coverage

If you’re an STRS Ohio Health Care Program enrollee who has Caremark as your pharmacy benefits manager (enrollees in Aetna, Medical Mutual and Paramount plans), you may have noticed the recent news about Caremark’s merger with CVS Corporation. Please rest assured that this merger will have no impact on current Caremark enrollees. You can continue to use the same prescription ID card, pharmacies, forms, customer service telephone number, Web site address and other service features you use today.

As a result of the merger, Caremark will combine the pharmacy benefit management, specialty pharmacy and health management businesses of Caremark and CVS’ PharmaCare to create the new Caremark Pharmacy Services group. As the transaction moves forward, STRS Ohio will inform you of any future developments of interest to health care program enrollees.
