Express Scripts has reported that it has received an extortion letter threatening to expose millions of patient records. The company is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to track down the person or persons responsible for this criminal act. At this time, Express Scripts is not aware of any actual misuse of the information. Express Scripts has launched a Web site (www.esisupports.com) for individuals who use the company’s services. It includes additional information about the investigation and provides access to resources they can use to protect themselves against possible identity theft.
