Health Care Plan Reflects Partnership Between Members and STRS Ohio

Faced with continued annual double-digit increases in health care costs, the State Teachers Retirement Board adopted a Health Care Strategic Plan in May 2005 that reflects the importance of both STRS Ohio and members doing everything possible to control health care costs and usage in the future. It also provides for the exploration of possible increases in member and/or employer contributions to provide a dedicated revenue stream for the Health Care Stabilization Fund.

During the next several years, board and staff will be working on these strategic plan components:

  • Program Management
  • Cost Management
  • Health Management
  • Consumer Focus
  • Funding
  • Health Care Industry Focus
