House Bill 700 Appears Dead for This Session

This morning, Dec. 15, STRS Ohio was advised by Senate President Bill Harris’ office that House Bill 700 will not be passed by the General Assembly before this session adjourns. This bill would have required school boards to offer private vendor alternative retirement plans to new employees and those with less than five years of service credit. STRS Ohio was one of the parties who provided testimony on this bill on Dec. 14, urging the Legislature to not rush this bill through.
