Process For Filling Retirement Board Vacancy Under Way

Effective June 22, 2004, Jack H. Chapman has resigned his position as an active teacher member of the State Teachers Retirement Board. This action is necessitated by his retirement as a teacher in the Reynoldsburg City Schools.

Individuals interested in this board position should send a letter indicating their interest and a résumé to the attention of Executive Director Dr. Damon Asbury, STRS Ohio, 275 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH  43215-3771. All letters will be forwarded to the Retirement Board. Upon receipt at STRS Ohio, these letters and any accompanying information may also be released in response to requests from the media and others.

In accordance with the State Teachers Retirement Board Rules, each remaining member of the board may nominate one eligible candidate for the vacancy by Aug. 6, 2004. The board will be holding a special meeting on Aug. 6 to make nominations. Dr. Asbury will then notify any nominees of their nomination and request biographical information. 

At its Aug. 20, 2004, meeting, the Retirement Board, through successive ballots, will elect the individual to fill the remainder of Mr. Chapman’s term, which runs through Aug. 31, 2006.
