Public Participation Time Changed For August Board Meeting

During the months of April, May and June, the State Teachers Retirement Board conducted a test run of new public participation procedures. The experiment was in response to concerns voiced by some members regarding the previous earlier 10 a.m. start time for public input at the monthly meetings. The change to Thursday also gave members an opportunity to hear the detailed presentations and discussion that occur during board committee meetings.

For the August meeting, the hour allotted for public participation will remain on Thursday, Aug. 19. However, it will begin at 1:30 p.m., rather than at 3 p.m. So that we may ensure that all those who wish to speak have an equal opportunity to register, we require that individuals personally sign up on the day of the meeting. A maximum of 20 speakers is allowed. 

The Retirement Board does not meet in July. The next dates for regularly scheduled committee and board meetings are:  Thursday, Aug. 19, and Friday, Aug. 20; Thursday, Sept. 16, and Friday, Sept. 17; and Thursday, Oct. 21, and Friday, Oct. 22.
