policies and procedures for the STRS Ohio Web site, www.strsoh.org.
The safeguards outlined here are designed to protect the privacy
of STRS Ohio members who make inquiries about personal account information.
The STRS Ohio secure server environment encrypts all information
entered while a user is logged onto the Personal Account Information
section of the Web site. Information, including Social Security
numbers, cannot be read at any time while encrypted.
STRS Ohio does not collect personal information about Web site
users except when individuals specifically provide such information.
Personal information is not, and will not, be sold or otherwise
transferred to unaffiliated third parties. STRS Ohio reserves the
right to contact a member regarding any matter relevant to the underlying
service or the information collected.
STRS Ohio reserves the right to perform statistical analysis of
user behavior and characteristics to measure use and performance
of the site. This information is used to enhance the site. No third
party shall be provided with any analysis or aggregate data obtained
in this manner.
Cookies (small data files on the user’s hard drive) are
used throughout the site to track where a user is and whether the
user is looking at a page or using one of the online calculators.
The only information stored in the cookie is a unique identification
number that identifies the user to the Web server. It does not contain
any personal information such as Social Security number or date
of birth.
This policy is effective July 1, 1998. STRS Ohio reserves the
right to change this policy at any time. This policy is not intended
to provide complete information about the laws that create STRS
Ohio or about rights and benefits under STRS Ohio. For more complete
