| Direct Deposit All new benefit recipients after July 1, 2001, must enroll and receive their monthly benefits through direct deposit. Nearly 85% of STRS Ohio retirees now use the electronic transfer method. STRS Ohio recommends direct deposit because it eliminates worries about delayed mail delivery and provides other safeguards to ensure receipt of each monthly benefit. If you still receive a paper check and would like to enroll in direct deposit, print a Direct Deposit Form or call 1-888-227-7877 to request a form.
