In August, non-Medicare enrollees in the STRS Ohio Health Care Program were mailed a letter from STRS Ohio regarding their eligibility for coverage through the STRS Ohio Health Care Program for 2010. STRS Ohio limits coverage for non-Medicare retirees who are reemployed in a public or private position if they (1) are eligible for medical and prescription drug coverage through their employer, or (2) hold a position for which other comparable employees are eligible for health care coverage at the same cost as full-time employees. These reemployed retirees are eligible for only secondary coverage through STRS Ohio.
If your employer and/or employer health care status is different from what you reported in 2009, you will need to complete a Verification of Employment and Employer Health Care Access for 2010 form and return it to STRS Ohio.
Important note: If you are not employed or do not have access to employer-sponsored health care coverage, no action is necessary at this time.
More information, including examples of reemployment positions and how they affect eligibility for primary health care coverage through STRS Ohio, is available in STRS Ohio’s Reemployment brochure. If you have questions regarding the letter or how this rule applies to you, please call STRS Ohio toll-free at 1-888-227-7877, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. |
