Estimated Annual Payroll Information Due Oct. 6

It is time to estimate your payroll for the 2017–2018 fiscal year. The estimate you provide will be used to calculate your 2018 calendar year employer contributions due from the state foundation program.

To prepare an accurate estimate for the current fiscal year (July 1, 2017–June 30, 2018) for all STRS Ohio members, include:

  1. Any increases effective during the period,
  2. Payments to be made for applicable federal programs, and
  3. Any payments for substitute teachers and tutors.

Log in to Employer Self Service (ESS) to submit the information

Estimates must be completed on ESS. From the Application Menu choose "Estimated Payroll." This will take you to the Estimated Annual Payroll for Members of STRS Ohio screen. To assist you in preparing an accurate payroll estimate for the current fiscal year, your previous 2016–2017 actual payroll amount is listed in the Prior Year Annual Payroll box. In the Estimated Payroll box, enter your estimate for the 2017–2018 fiscal year. After you have calculated and entered the amount, please make sure to click "Submit" to send the information to STRS Ohio.

An explanation is necessary for estimates that are:

  1. A decrease from the 2016–2017 annual payroll, or
  2. An increase greater than 10% of the 2016–2017 annual payroll.

If your estimate requires an explanation, please send a detailed email, including your four-digit STRS Ohio employer number, to [email protected]. If you have questions, please contact the Employer Reporting Department toll-free at 888‑535‑4050. Please submit your estimate by Friday, Oct. 6.
