Four Tips for a Secure Retirement

  1. Create a budget

This is the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, but you don’t want to run through your savings too quickly. Creating a budget will help you track expenses and provide a framework for balancing your wants and needs.

  2. Don’t stop retirement planning

Keeping a close eye on your retirement plans is important — even after you retire. Revisions to the tax code, a volatile economy or personal changes in your health or marital status can all have an impact on your financial situation. A regular assessment of your savings plans should be a priority.

  3. Address (or update) important financial details

It’s easy to procrastinate establishing important financial directives, but at the time of a death or crisis, having this information up-to-date can minimize stress on your loved ones. Items to think about: Do you have an estate plan in place? Is your beneficiary information up-to-date? (Beneficiary information can be updated via an Online Personal Account)

  4. Attend STRS Ohio seminars and workshops
