Can I submit a paper application or résumé?
Paper applications are not available. Applicants should apply for open STRS Ohio positions through our online application process.
How will I know if my application has been received?
Shortly after submitting your online application you will receive a confirmation email. You will also receive an email from STRS Ohio when your application has been processed. If you do not receive an email within five minutes, check your spam folder. If you don’t receive the confirmation email, your application was not submitted properly and you should complete another online application.
How long will my application remain on file with STRS Ohio?
Applications and résumés are retained for six months from the date they are received.
I feel that I meet all of the qualifications of the position I applied for. Why haven’t I been contacted for an interview?
Due to the large volume of applications received for open positions, only those candidates whose experience, education and special skills/credentials are best matched for an open position will be contacted for an interview.
Do I need to call STRS Ohio to check on the status of my application?
No. Due to the large volume of applications received, we cannot guarantee that all calls regarding open positions and applications will be returned. Candidates whose experience, education and special skills/credentials are best matched for an open position will be contacted for an interview until a sufficient pool of qualified candidates has been identified.
How long does it take to fill a position?
The time to fill an open position varies significantly based the position requirements. If you interview for the position, you will receive information on the expected timetable for filling the position during your interview.
Is STRS Ohio a state agency?
STRS Ohio is legally separate from and fiscally independent of state and local governments; however, STRS Ohio operates under the guidelines of Chapter 3307 of the Ohio Revised Code (R.C.) as enacted by the Ohio General Assembly.

Where should I park when visiting STRS Ohio?
State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio is located at 275 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215-3771. Free parking is available in the STRS Ohio garage that is part of our south building. The garage is located behind the main building and is entered off Capital Street. Drive to the visitors’ entrance of the garage (the first entrance on Capital Street), press the intercom button and provide your name and appointment time. STRS Ohio Security personnel will provide admittance to the garage and give parking instructions and other information. Upon entering the building, please stop by the security desk where you will be directed to the appropriate area.
STRS Ohio is located in downtown Columbus and provides free on-site parking for members.
Are background investigations completed?
STRS Ohio employment is conditional upon receipt of satisfactory background investigation results. Applicants under serious consideration will be subject to a minimum review of their credit history. An applicant selected for hire is subject to a complete background evaluation which includes a drug screening, physical examination (when applicable), employment business references, review of criminal and driving records and education and social security verification.
