The Ohio Department of Insurance is warning Ohioans with Medicare to watch for fraudulent Medicare claims made with their Medicare numbers for medical supplies, most notably urinary catheters, back and knee braces, and glucose monitors. Click here for more information.

The scammers are using individuals' Medicare numbers and fraudulently billing Medicare thousands of dollars per counterfeit claim. Affected individuals are not impacted financially but must obtain a new Medicare number and card. They may also face complications when receiving legitimate medical supplies in the future.

If you have been affected by this Medicare scam, please contact the Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol at 800-293-4767 or go to proseniors.org to report the scam and get help obtaining a new Medicare number and card.

STRS Ohio Aetna Medicare Plan enrollees should also contact Aetna toll-free at 833-383-4612 to notify the plan that fraudulent Medicare claims have been submitted.
